페이스북, 전면 뉴스 광고로 애플을 비난하다.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Facebook (ironically) took out full-page ads this week in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. The purpose? Apple-bashing. FB says forthcoming privacy changes in iOS 14 will hurt small businesses and creators...and “change the internet as we know it—for the worse.”

페이스북은 이번주 수요일과 목요일에 뉴욕타임즈, 워싱턴 포스트 그리고 월스트리트 저널에 전면광고를 싣었습니다. 목적이 무엇이었느냐구요? 애플에 대한 비난을 위한 것이었습니다. 페이스북은 다가오는 iOS14 프라이버시 변경이 소상공인과 생산자들을 헤칠 것이며 "말 그대로 최악의 상태로 인터넷 환경을 변화시킬 것"이라고 말하고 있습니다.

Apple is prepping a software update that alerts users of apps’ data tracking capabilities—and lets them opt out. That will materially impact FB by reducing data collection and ad targeting.

애플은 사용자에게 앱 데이터 트래킹 사용량에 대한 알람을 주고 이를 옵트아웃할 수 있는 소프트웨어 업데이트를 준비 중입니다. 본 업데이트는 실질적으로 데이터 수집량과 광고 타겟팅에 대한 양을 줄이는 것으로 페이스북에 영향을 끼칩니다.

Apple says it’s a pro-consumer move. Maybe so, but it’s also one that will help a certain someone’s competitive moat. Many apps will have to pivot from ad to subscription models, and in turn, pay the App Store’s 30% cut.

애플은 이것을 프로컨슈머 운동이라고 말합니다. 아마도요, 그러나 이 변화는 특정한 누군가의 경쟁적 해자에 도움이 될 것입니다.  많은 앱들은 반드시 광고에서 구독 모델로 전환해야 하며, 차례로 App Store 의 30% 를 삭감하여 지불해야 합니다.

• 프로컨슈머란? 프로컨슈머는 기업의 생산에 영향을 미치는 소비자로 생산자(프로듀서) + 소비자(컨슈머)의 합쳐진 용어이다. 즉 전문가 고객을 뜻한다.

• Competitive Moat (경쟁적 해자) : The term “competitive moat” (popularized by Warren Buffett as an “economic moat”), refers to a business' ability to maintain competitive advantages in order to protect its long-term profits and market share from competing firms. "경쟁적 해자"는 (워렌 버핏의 "경제적 해자"로 유명한) 비즈니스의 가능성이 장기간 이익과 시장점유율이 경쟁사에 비해 경쟁적 우위를 갖는 것을 의미합니다

FB also said it’s pitching in for Epic Games’s legal battle against Apple (which Spotify and Match Group have applauded).

페이스북은 또한 Epic Games의 Apple과의 법적 전투에 함께 참여할 것이라고 말했습니다. (Spotify 와 Match Group 가 박수를 보냄).
